A Colorado native, Karen arrived in Durango with her family at the age of five and considers Durango to be her hometown. She moved away for a few years in her 20’s, during which time she married her high school sweetheart and had two children. They made the decision to move back to Durango to raise their children in the same community and area they’d grown up in, because they felt that Southwest Colorado offered so much and was, and still is, such a special place.

During the time Karen was not living in Durango, she was a Buyer for a national department store chain and bought inventory for 32 stores in the Florida/Georgia region. She gave up this career to move back to Durango and started a career in real estate. "It was the best move we could have made, living in this beautiful area and working in a field that I love has been the gift of a lifetime. Something I want to share with everyone who loves this community."

Karen’s daughter, Rachel, joined her in Real Estate six years ago after graduating from Fort Lewis College. That is when Karen transitioned from a single agent (with assistant) business model to a team model (The Overington Group), with Karen and Rachel working as a mother/daughter team.

Karen spends her spare time with her family hiking, four-wheeling, and snowshoeing in the San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado. She also loves to write and paint.
